CARS is a self-supporting ministry of Princeton Alliance Church designed to provide vehicles to single moms and families in need. We recognize that transportation to employment is often a key to a family getting on its feet. With this in mind, we receive donated vehicles, repair them and give them away to those who qualify through our He Cares We Care Ministry. We also provide general car maintenance to qualified single moms by appointment. For more information, take a few moments to read the CARS Brochure (PDF).
IMPORTANT: Due to significant demand, we offer assistance only to single moms residing in specific communities of New Jersey's Mercer and Middlesex counties. Those towns are Cranbury, Dayton, East Windsor, Hightstown, Jamesburg, Kendall Park, Kingston, Monmouth Junction, Monroe, Plainsboro, Princeton, Princeton Junction, South Brunswick and West Windsor.
Can I Volunteer to Help?
Absolutely! We fully rely on our incredible volunteer team of backyard mechanics. Anyone 14 years of age and older with an interest in cars is welcome to volunteer to help. Volunteers detail cars, change oil, repair suspensions, replace and rotate tires, repair radiators and so much more. No experience is required. We will gladly provide on-the-job training in our garage. Volunteer teams work in the garage every Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 pm. We meet at 6 pm every other Wednesday in the garage for a Bible study before we get to work. Check the church calendar for our Bible study schedule.
How Do I Donate a Vehicle?
Donating a car is easy. If you donate a vehicle you are provided with a written acknowledgment of your donation for tax purposes. We accept most makes and models, just drop-off the vehicle at Princeton Alliance Church. To arrange for a vehicle drop-off, email us or call 609.799.9000 x11.
For details, review the CARS Donor Packet (PDF).
What Happens to My Car?
Prior to giving your donated vehicle to a family in need, it is test driven and fully inspected using a 100-point checklist to ensure it is road ready. Depending on condition, some donated vehicles are salvaged for parts or sold, the proceeds of which support the CARS Ministry, coming full circle to ultimately impact those we serve.
How are People Selected to Receive a Car?
Those who receive a vehicle undergo a comprehensive qualification process with a He Cares We Care case coordinator. This helps determine whether the inability to afford a car repair or replacement is short-term or a symptom of a larger issue. He Cares We Care’s holistic approach allows case coordinators to uncover underlying issues and offer appropriate remedies.
Among the qualifying criteria, candidates for a vehicle must reside within the following communities of New Jersey's Mercer and Middlesex counties: Cranbury, Dayton, East Windsor, Hightstown, Jamesburg, Kendall Park, Kingston, Monmouth Junction, Monroe, Plainsboro, Princeton, Princeton Junction, South Brunswick and West Windsor.
If you are in need of a vehicle, are a resident of Mercer or Middlesex counties, and would like to begin the qualification process, email us or call 609.799 9000 x11.
