Common Questions

Can I order a CD or DVD instead?

Yes — CDs and DVDs of recent services are available at the bookcart, in the hallway near the Welcome Center. CDs are $3, DVDs are $5.

A live audio recording of the 9am teaching is normally available on CD shortly after the service ends each Sunday. An edited video of the teaching is available on DVD the following weekend.

Contact Larry by email with any questions.

How often are new services posted?
Each weekend service is generally available by the following Wednesday evening. Special services may take longer, or may not be posted at all due to licencing or other concerns.
Do I need an iPod?

No — you just need speakers or headphones for your computer. If you want to listen to the broadcasts away from your computer, any MP3 player can be used.

I tried to subscribe using an iTunes link, but nothing happened.

You need iTunes 4.9 or newer to use the iTunes links.

iTunes stopped updating the podcast — what gives?

iTunes automatically unsubscribes you from a podcast when you haven't played any episode from the past 5 updates and at least 5 days have elapsed since any episode was played.

Just click on the Subscribe button in iTunes, or use one of the links above to resubscribe.

Why does the video podcast only play audio on my iPod?

You will only hear the audio when you play the video podcast from the Music menu. To see the video, you should play it from the Video menu.

Can I burn a CD of these podcasts?

Yes, as long as you abide by the terms of the license.

In a nutshell: you are welcome to copy or distribute the podcasts, provided you:

  • Don't sell or profit from them.
  • Don't modify them in any way.
  • Credit Princeton Alliance Church as the author.

How do you create the broadcast media?

If you're new to podcasting, we recommend Wikipedia's article on the subject.

We capture our media with Final Cut Pro, which is also where the videos are edited. Audio files are exported to Soundtrack Pro, where they are cropped, cleaned up and normalized.

We export our media with Compressor:

  • Video (M4V): H.264, 640x480, ~1.1Mbps, 44.1KHz 16-bit stereo
  • Audio (MP3): 160kbps CBR, 44.1KHz 16-bit joint stereo.

Our podcast feeds are dynamically generated from our media database, according to the iTunes podcast specs. If you're looking for a simpler solution, we recommend Lemonz Dream's Podcast Maker, one of the many podcasting software and services available.
