The church began in 1982 with a small group of people who shared a vision of God's love for people.

Today we are an incredibly diverse community that continues to show Jesus' love to the world.

Early History

In September 1982, the Christian and Missionary Alliance's Metropolitan District set out to plant a church in the Route 1 corridor of Princeton, NJ. In November that year they commissioned a pastor to head the new church.

Princeton Alliance Church held its first meeting on March 6, 1983 at the conference center of a local hotel. Fifty-three visitors attended this first meeting.

The church was formally organized on October 13, 1983, with the installation of its first pastor.

Time of Transition

Between 1983 and 1989 the church continued to grow, moving quickly from place to place. It first gathered in homes throughout the Princeton area, followed by Princeton High School's main auditorium, and even the Bristol Chapel of Westminster Choir College.

After a series of failed attempts between 1986 and 1989 to purchase land for a new building of their own, the church applied to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for permission to occupy a vacant NJDOT building on Route 1 in Monmouth Junction. Although the church only intended to be there for two years, it ended up leasing the facility for nearly nine. The church grew to see over 350 regular attendees during this time.

In February 1990, the church's founding pastor was called to another ministry. Robert Cushman, who had served as the church's Christian Education Pastor, agreed to fill the role of Senior Pastor, first as an interim measure, then permanently.

A New Home

By 1997 the church had grown well beyond the limits of the Route 1 building.

On November 2, construction began on a new facility at the crossroads of Scudders Mill and Schalks Crossing roads. The church moved into this new home in Plainsboro in 1999.

Cushman continued to lead the church through its new season until September 2005, when he retired. In October 2006, after a year of prayer, Boyd Hannold stepped up from his role as Small Groups Pastor to serve as the church's new Senior Pastor.
